The origins of some dog breeds are lost in history but not the Boston Terrier. It is a cross of an English bulldog with an English terrier. The original ancestors of the breed were bred in Boston in around 1870. The Boston Terrier was later first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1897.
The first Boston Terriers were bred in Boston in around 1870. The Massachussetts named the Boston Terrier it's official state dog in 1979.
The temperament of the Boston Terrier is so sweet that the breed has earned the nickname of the "American Gentleman". This is probably also because of their hair colors that gives it the air of wearing a tuxedo.
Sergeant Stubby served for 18 months as a member of the 26th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. He was locating wounded soldiers, detecting poison gas attacks and he has been responsible for capturing a German spy. Stubby achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was even celebrated as a national hero.
